Hajime Ohno, March 2026 Featured Artist

Frisky Time

Frisky Time has been awarded the honor of Best in Show for March 2026 at The Gallery. Come see a wonderful depiction of Maple and Figgy, two terrier mixes going crazy after a shower. Maple and Figgy were rescued in January 2021, and continue to provide fun and inspiration.

The artist Hajime (pronounced “Haj-Mae”) was born into a rice farming family in a small town in Hokkaido, the northernmost island of Japan. When he was seven, his family quit farming and moved to Sapporo, Hokkaido’s capital and largest city. He studied art and graphic art at Harris School of Art (now defunct) in Franklin, Tennessee [1983-86]. The school also taught him human anatomy, perspective drawing, and how to create book illustrations in the tradition of Howard Pyle, N. C. Wyeth, and Norman Rockwell.

Come to The Gallery to see this and other inspiring art.
