oil Demo

Demo is free, Workshop is $40 for members, $50 for non-members.

Elizabeth Lancaster is an oil painter whose work blends expressive realism with gestural, emotive brushwork. Her work has been displayed at the Oceanside Museum of Art and exhibited throughout Southern California, as well as in Mexico City. Elizabeth brings a thoughtful, process-driven approach to teaching, encouraging artists to develop both technical skill and expressive confidence in their artistic practice. 


WORKSHOP

 This workshop focuses on helping students bring both realism and expressive qualities into their oil paintings.  Strengthen  use of value, color, texture, and brushwork to create more dynamic and confident work. Subject matter is open, and students may work from a reference image of their choice or bring a painting in progress.

Materials List 

Please note that artists need to bring their own materials to complete an oil painting. Required: - Reference image (printed or digital) - Oil paints  

- Brushes - Canvas or painting surface- Palette - Turpentine/solvent and/or preferred medium (a painting medium recipe will also be shared at the workshop)

Recommended Palette (not required):  

- Alizarin Crimson, Vermilion Red, Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue, Cadmium Yellow, Yellow, Indian Yellow, Transparent Red Iron Oxide, Ivory Black,White  

The workshop will use a limited palette consisting of dark and light red, blue, and yellow, plus white and black. Students do not need to match these colors above exactly unless they wish to, some colors can be shared in the workshop.
